Music and Church Choir Praise and worship is enhanced by a fifteen-member church choir accompanied by the organist and, on Wednesdays, by the pianist. Worship Committee This group of people consists mainly of the priest, the organist, the pianist, at least one member of the Parish council and two or three other interested members of the parish. They look at ways to enhance the Sunday services and discuss matters arising from recommendations and suggestions with regard to praise and worship.
Christian Education Baptism Baptism takes place once a quarter and instruction precedes a month before the actual baptism takes place. Sunday School The Sunday School classes are conducted during the 9h15 service, except for the last Sunday of the month when we have Family Service. The St Saviour’s Sunday School plays an integral role in preparing the children of our parish to become adults in Christ and the Church. Three groups comprising the Pebbles (2-5yrs), Rocks (6-9yrs) and Boulders (10- 12yrs) make up the more or less 30 children who regularly attend each week. Bible Class The Bible class precedes Confirmation and is a year-long course, the first part of the two-year cycle of Confirmation preparation. Confirmation Class After two years of preparation the candidates’ instruction culminates in the holy sacrament of Confirmation when candidates confirm and accept the promises made by their parents and godparents at their baptism.
Other Ministries Lay Ministers We have a small team of ten lay ministers who assist in the sanctuary at both the 7h30 and 9h15 worship services, the Wednesday service and funeral services. The lay ministers take Holy Communion to the sick at home and in hospital and also get involved in Baptism preparation, Bible Class and Confirmation preparation. Altar Servers The altar servers consist of a group of dedicated young people who are rostered to serve at the Sunday Sung Mass as well as other occasions as required. Sides Persons A small group of extremely dedicated person’s welcome parishioners and visitors alike at both Sunday services and other occasions as required. They also record attendances and secure seating for visitors when there is a need.
